    To my knowledge, normally I think FTN messages should be routed through your hub, rather than connecting directly to each system to transfer mail. Although if directly connecting to another FTN node is valid, I'm not sure why my binkp wouldn't be answering connections. I did take my BBS down for a couple minutes earlier though, and maybe your BBS happened to try to connect during that time?

    f7.n105.z1.fidonet is not a valid host name. You can verify that with any DNS lookup tool:
    $ host f7.n105.z1.fidonet
    Host f7.n105.z1.fidonet not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

    I think you have your zone 1 configured for the wrong DNSSuffix in echocfg, that should be 'binkp.net', not 'fidonet':

    $ host f7.n105.z1.binkp.net
    f7.n105.z1.binkp.net is an alias for digdist.synchro.net.
    digdist.synchro.net has address 50.46.162.90
    digdist.synchro.net mail is handled by 0 mail.synchro.net.

    Howdy,

    6/5 01:47:58p BINKOUT Connecting to 1:105/7@fidonet at f7.n105.z1.fidonet:24554
    6/5 01:47:58p BINKOUT Connection to f7.n105.z1.fidonet:24554 failed (Error: No such host is known. ).

    That address looks wrong to me.

    ie: f7.n105.z1.fidonet is not a valid internet host name.

    Synchronet does use nodelist information. In echocfg, there's a section called "Domains", where a "domain" is a network. In there, you can configure which nodelist filse to use for which FTN network. For instance, you can have a domain entry called "fidonet", with zones 1,2,3,4 and specify the fidonet nodelist file there. And for each linked node you add, you can specify the domain of the node. Synchronet (or rather, sbbsecho) will match the node to the nodelist that way.

    Not sure if that was a typo, but Synchronet (and SBBSecho) does *not* use nodelist information.

    Not exactly. BinkIt can use the nodelist, but not Synchronet or SBBSecho.
